Shared note

"Founder of iron industry in Taunton MA. Created the first furnace ever built in New England in what is now Raynham MA. He was very wealthy, owned homes in Taunton and Boston and was an upstanding member of the community. However he held religious views not in keeping with Puritan doctrines, and in 1638 he and 17 others (including Roger Williams) were banished from Massachusetts. They fled to Rhode Island which they purchased from the Indians."

"The Wilbors came from France, what is now call Normandy France. They went to England to kill wild boars for the King. The Boars were killing people. The Boars were numerous in the country and that is how they got the name Wilbores.

"They raised sheep and made cloth. Samuel was a Merchant and owned a ship, he made several trips selling his products.

"In 1633, 200 people came by the "Griffin" ship to the USA. Samuel Wilbor, his wife Ann (Smith) and children was on the ship."
