Shared note | Patrick and Phebe started their family in a log cabin on a farm in Erin Township of Stephenson Co. Illinois. Patrick's grandfather, John Kaufman, had obtained the land when he came to Illinois three years after the Black Hawk War. Patrick farmed the land until moving to Lena late in life where Patrick was a grain dealer. Phebe once had hot pies set in the window to cool stolen by Indians. Genealogy accumulate by Calvin Hobson, 1976. |
