Doug Martin writes "Canadian Census reel C1073, 1861 ... Susan was 49 years of age and living in Simcoe North in the Medonte Township with Harriet, (15), William, (14), and Emma, (13). It also shows that A.M.I. Durnford, a retire Officer on the Army was living in Nottawasaga Township (Batteau) was 56 years of age and living with Mary Anne (35), Louisa (14), Sophia (12), Julia (10), Barabara (8), Jemina (6). It also shows the 1871 census, reel C630, with Susan still in Medonte Township with William, Emma and James who was probably a grandchild. In Nottawasaga Township it shows AMID (73), Mary Anne, Louisa, Julia, Barabara, Jemina, Andrew, and Villiers. Then the Census rell C13251 for 1881 showed the addition of Minnie born in 1871. This information was compiled by Mrs. Winnifred Wormith of Sarnia, a great granddaughter of AMID. Another source in Orilla found at the Anglican Archives in Toronto, and listed under the Barrie church the following; Louisa, b. 04/10/1847, Sophia b. 04/16/1849 and Julia b. 08/30/1851, chidren of Major A.M.I. Durnford and Mary Ann White all baptized 27th October 1851 Township of Vespra. Under Orilla she found Emma Montague ISaacson Durnford, daughter of ANdrew M. I. and Susan his wife, (Gentleman,) (sic) born 15 January 1848 Medonte Township where it borders Coldwater and Matchedash.

I was able to locate the grave of Susan Knott in the Coldwater cemetery Plot E-24, and the grave of AMID and Mary Ann White in Collingwood in the Anglican Cemetery. From the Susan Knott marriage I followed the Arthur Durnford and Margaret Lynch line to David Knott Durnford..."

Cared for an orphaned boy named James Henry Durnford, b. 1866/4, in Coldwater, Ontario for a few years. The info @Susannah comes from 1871 census: Susan (Knott) Durnford living in Medonte Township, County of Simcoe (Ontario Archives at Toronto reel C630) with additional name, James.
